Notes from the Chair - Rick Rhodes
Bluegrass events were plentiful this February and March. A special thanks to Lanny Richards for his time and efforts representing the ABA during the festivals.
This was our first time at Quartzite and hats off to Bill Bogan for a nice venue.
Larry Baker’s festival in Parker was well attended. The ABA hosted both the Gibson Brothers and Honi Deaton’s group at the ABA campsite on two different nights. After grilling we had some fantastic jamming going on! We hope to have the videos of that on the ABA website after editing.
Unfortunately The JB’s restaurant bluegrass jam has been cancelled. The management has cut their hours to 2 pm. Since the jam was at 3 pm, the writing on the wall was evident. We will keep you posted when another location is secured.
If you have ever wanted to adjust or tweak your instrument www.acousticbox.com is a website that covers how to repair guitars and mandolins. This site even explains how to install railroad spikes on banjos.
In closing, I’d like to recognize Bill Burns for donating an ABA Banner for the Booth. In addition, thanks Bill for inviting new members to join this fine association.
Please encourage your friends to become an ABA member today.

The new Hosting Company for AzBluegrass.org seems to doing a reliable job. There were two brief periods in March with downtime. Anyone experiencing difficulties is encouraged to contact this writer at Web@AzBluegrass.org.
Camille Richards had an illness last month so our new template is not complete quite yet, but we’ll forgive her that ... this time.
A lot of programs have been added to our new Concerts page. John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be playing in Phoenix. Be sure to take in The Jam Pak kids at the Tempe Youth Showcase. There are some programs and Tucson, Prescott, and Flagstaff as well. We get our leads from e-mails and calls. If you know of something coming up contact us.
The first video was installed on the Jam page. Leslie Rhodes took it at JB’s Restaurant in January. It is very cool just to have introduced this technology to the Website. We’ll get more sophisticated as we learn. As our members and bands get videos please let us post them for fun and promotion of the ABA and the bands.
Thanks to contributions by Susan Anderson and Billy Breen we now have links for every bluegrass instrument. We also have a large listing of other associations. Review the Links page. If you know of others sites, as usual, please forward them to this writer.
There are new e-mail addresses for the ABA volunteers including: Bands@AzBluegrass.org for becoming listed on our Bands List, FutureGrass@AzBluegrass.org, General@AzBluegrass.org for items of business, Members@AzBluegrass.org for membership matters, News-Web@AzBluegrass.org for items of interest for either the Beacon or the Website, and Web@AzBluegrass.org for web related issues or requests.
